Here We Go

Hi, this is a new blog. No one will read this, but that's OK. I'm just trying to get a feel for how this looks. I spent all morning trying to get this background image to stay static. What a fun morning that wasn't. Anyway, I'm still in the midst of writing my first book (well, I've written other stuff, but none of it was very good so I'm considering this my first real effort).

I've been reading a lot of J.A. Konrath and Amanda Hocking (on their excellent blogs) and some of Barry Eisler's blog as well, and, without putting the cart too many miles in front of the horse, I'm thinking I may just bypass the whole "get an agent" stage and upload my first book straight to the Kindle, Nook, etc. I like to be in control of stuff (who doesn't?), so this may be a good way not to get screwed out of gobs of money. Of course, the material will have to be good first, so what am I doing blogging??? I need to focus, focus, focus (something I suck at).

Anyway, thanks for reading--or, more likely, not reading--my first entry (did I just thank you for not reading my first entry?). I'm reinvigorated to get my young adult novel written and into your hands as soon as possible!
